The Ladies Auxiliary was started on August 28, 2004.

September 12, 2004

Hello everyone,

As with any vacation, it goes by way too fast and it seems no one has picked up the slack at work while you were gone.  Hence, this is the first chance to get this “show” on the road.

During the extremely successful Sturgeon Bay reunion, thanks to the tremendous efforts of Dale and Debbie Wiegand, the association created a ladies auxiliary on August 28, 2004 to help defray reunion costs.  Our goal is to assist the association in their endeavors to continue the traditions of the  USS ETHAN ALLEN SSBN/SSN 608.

The newly conceived Ladies Auxiliary would like to extend an invitation to EVERYONE, not just the ladies of ETHAN ALLEN to join in creating our first, and hopefully, not last, cookbook to be sold as a fundraising aid to keep reunion costs down.

Please jot down any family favorite recipe.  It does not have to be strictly desserts (maybe we can have just a dessert cookbook, but that is for future consideration.)  We are looking for the tried-and-true that drives your family to salivation just hearing the words mentioned.  More than one recipe is very welcomed.  We hope to have this book in final format, ready for print by September of 2005.  That way, whatever proceeds we receive from the sales can defer reunion costs for King’s Bay, Georgia in 2006.  It may seem far away, but it really is not!  Time can fly by faster than we want!

Again, we are looking for Grandma’s Favorite, Dad’s grill creation and the smells that generate fevered anticipation!  Tom Jonet has the honor of being the first to donate a few of his best recipes to our cause.  As some of you know, Tom was the boat’s cook in 1974, and is now the Executive Chef for Sysco Food Service of Eastern Wisconsin.  A Great Start to a Good Cause!

Please send your “absolutely fabulous” recipes to:   db01@lehigh.edu.  Each and every recipe send will be acknowledged.  That way, you know your precious cargo has been received.

Thanks for your time and research.  Let’s make this the best cookbook on the market!

We are also open to other fundraising ideas!  Put your thinking caps on!

Sincerely,

Denise Stangl
