Below are stories that have been sent to me to remember the sometimes great/sometimes challenging times we had aboard USS Ethan Allen (SSBN 608).  I do not authenticate the stories.  I just believe they are worth passing along.

One of the funniest things I remember was the night Gene Alban was given a cigar (he was a non smoker).  He went up to the unattended storage space forward of the sonar shack where Goldsboro ET2 was cutting a crew members hair.   Gene lit up and blew smoke in the crew members ear thinking this was COB Ducharme, however it was Capt. Lacy who resembled the chief from the rear - needless to say Gene kept a low profile for a while although Capt. Lacy got a kick out of this.   I also was on the patrol in the Med when we had the close encounter with the diesel sub.  I think sonar identified it as an old soviet boat given to the Egyptians, if I recall.
