Below are stories that have been sent to me to remember the sometimes great/sometimes challenging times we had aboard USS Ethan Allen (SSBN 608).  I do not authenticate the stories.  I just believe they are worth passing along.

From Bill Constance

A significant event in the history of the Ethan Allen occurred in December 1964.  While  in transit to the assigned operating area in the Mediterranean  the SINS system malfunctioned, and, in order to reset the SINS a sonar search was conducted and the boat was proceeding to periscope depth when a collision occurred with a Norwegian tanker.  The Ethan Allen sustained a blown hydraulic valve for the fairwater plains, and the fairwater plains were damaged.  The tanker thought they had hit some minor debris in the ocean.

The Ethan Allen was able to continue on and complete their assigned patrol.
