Below are stories that have been sent to me to remember the sometimes great/sometimes challenging times we had aboard USS Ethan Allen (SSBN 608).  I do not authenticate the stories.
I just believe they are worth passing along.

St. Patrick's Day - Ford Island

One of the best Saint Patrick’s day celebrations was while we (the blue crew ) were stationed in Pearl Harbor on Ford Island. Our most famous Irishman was Roger O’Conner or ROC as everyone knew him. ROC’s best day was always St. Patties Day, and everyone knew it. He had fixed up this real cool Pimp hat that was made of crushed Green Velvet and had soaked his Whites in Green Food Coloring in preparation for the big day. When he came strolling into the main office dressed in GREEN a surly chief, from some other boat, could not contain himself and grabbed Petty Officer O’Conner by the arm and dragged him “into the office”. That chief was so pissed he couldn’t see straight but when everybody in the office saw WHO it was, all they could do was laugh. This pissed off the Chief even more if that was possible. Roger never got in trouble that I know of but I heard him scheming for the next year because he had learned to sky dive and was trying to figure out how to get a plane to drop him over Ford Island, while wearing GREEN of course.
